Eating Ginger is A Step to Being Sub-Immortal
Add spice to your life
Ginger, like its cousin turmeric, has long been hailed for its medicinal properties. This fiery root is the star spice of many Asian dishes and is quickly growing in popularity all over the world. It adds flavour to food and brings loads of health benefits too! The components of ginger are gingerols, shogaol, and zingerone; these are responsible for giving ginger the medicative, therapeutic and restorative powers it possesses.
The Herbal Hero
Anti-tumorigenic and Anticarcinogenic
Ginger’s cancer fighting qualities make it a superfood. The best part is that while it kills cancer cells it does not damage any of the healthy cells! It is known to prevent tumours from developing and is also an effective natural treatment for nausea caused by chemotherapy. Being anti-inflammatory it reduces the risk of cancer.
Anti-inflammatory
Gingerol, the active ingredient in fresh ginger, is anti-inflammatory and hence, excellent for treating osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis. Ginger has the ability to reduce pain and joint swelling when used regularly. By inhibiting pro-inflammatory reaction of the body it decreases the risk of inflammation associated chronic diseases.
Antioxidants and Antibacterial properties
The antioxidant compounds, curcumin & gingerol, in ginger help curb the production of free radicals that cause cell damage. This antioxidation nature of ginger is ideal for preventing diseases such as Alzheimer’s, dementia and the big one- cancer. Ginger has an antibacterial effect on the respiratory system and is considered to be a much better alternative to synthetic drugs; whether it is to treat a common cold or bronchitis.
Reduces risk of cardiovascular diseases
By lowering cholesterol, stimulating blood flow, and preventing blood clots, ginger acts to safeguard cardiovascular health. It also lowers high blood pressure; thereby reducing the overall threat to your heart.
For detox
Ginger aids digestion which helps the body in ridding itself of all the harmful chemicals effectively. It generates heat within the body to flush out toxins through perspiration. Gives a boost to the immune system making the the body’s defense system stronger.
Its medicative properties don’t end there; it is the go-to herb for:
- Relieving aches and pains
- Healing a sore throat
- Battling morning sickness, motion sickness and vomiting
- Remedy for stomach ache, constipation and indigestion
- Providing pain relief from menstrual cramps
- Treating asthma
- Purifying blood
As per the arthritis foundation, a study by the University of Miami has concluded that ginger extract could some day potentially be a substitute to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). |
Have it as you like it…
You can have it raw but do keep in mind that it is spicy so start with tiny bites. Adding it to your food is a good way of ensuring that you have a healthy daily intake. You could even consume it in its RAW powedered form ( this ensures its at a lower heat that doesn’t destroy the enzymes and other micro-nutrition). These days organic ginger oil is easily available so go ahead and sample it if you haven’t already and look in your copy of the Sub-Immortal Diet ( when it’s released) for some Ultra-Life-Enhancing Recipes using ginger like the one below!
